Small businesses often shortchange their online presence primarily due to the cost of professional website development. Ongoing maintenance and support is a huge requirement that is costly. Less complicated websites are often managed by owners trying to run the business, often without development expertise.
In order to offer more affordable options, EMGwebsites created the eBiz Network – a CMS multi-site platform for hosting, building, maintaining websites so business owners can make their online presence a priority. All sites are custom designed and built with features and functionality specific to each client’s business. Making changes to design or content is easy to accomplish, and the website will always run the latest software for optimal performance and security. Being part of the network greatly reduces cost.
It is not uncommon for a website to take 14 weeks at a minimum from start to launch. This includes 2 weeks discovery, 3 weeks design, 3 weeks design revisions, 3 weeks initial development, and 3 weeks of modifications. It could take much longer if the developer needs constant hand-holding, or waits until the end to start writing content.
THIS IS NOT HOW I WORK
Small business websites usually take no longer than 2 weeks from start to finish. Start date depends on current production schedule, finish date depends on timely review by my client. If you’re a “tweaker” and want a ton of revisions – that 2 week timeline can be shot to hell. Most of my clients never change a thing. Honestly, I put a lot of effort into delivering exactly what is needed and usually know more about what is needed than the client. This is not a bad reflection on my clients at all! It simply means they trust me to deliver, and I do.
Obviously, if the site you need is an application platform needing custom functionality, or major changes to scope occur during development – it will take longer. Rarely ever more than 4 weeks, even in these cases.
Yes. The eBiz webmaster will handle all updates required to keep your website secure and running smooth. Troubleshooting and fixing any issues that arise – and they do often when updating new themes, plugins and custom elements – is included at no extra cost.
Yes. While site owners can access their admin panel to make revisions, create new content, and monitor activity as may be required – you can simply contact the eBiz webmaster to make revisions for you.
Major changes to functionality can be discussed and a quote presented if the scope of work exceeds included maintenance and support levels.
The chances of your site breaking are slim. We can limit your staff admin access to prevent inadvertent actions that break a site. We monitor your site 24/7 and if or when an issue arises, we fix it. Our standard rate for site-fixes is $125/hr. so you can imagine how costly one issue or site restoration could be for non-network clients.
No. We offer flexible options to help accommodate your budgetary needs.
There are 3 options:
payment plan spreads the cost of design, development, support and maintenance over 12 months. Clients opting for this plan are obligated until the initial quote amount is paid in full. Under this plan, clients receive critical monthly support and maintenance at a deep discount.
pay the initial quote amount in full, and remain in the network to take advantage of monthly hosting, support and maintenance for a discounted fee.
flat quote for site build on another hosting provider’s server, for which no monthly hosting, support or maintenance is provided.
After full payment, clients can choose to remain in the network for a reduced monthly hosting, support and maintenance fee. Clients can opt to have their site moved to another hosting plan when paid in full at any time. Payment plans can be paid in full at any time without penalty. Our program is monthly-based with no long-term obligation requirements.
Very little. Basically, you need to explain your business model and together we decide how your website can meet or compliment your objectives. Provide any existing graphics such as logo files, location images, team profiles and pics, etc. Give links to sites that may be similar to a look-and-feel you have in mind (optional). I take it from there, build your site and present it for review. We make revisions as needed, and the site is launched.
After site launch, you monitor and manage the activity generated by your website. For example – if ecommerce, you manage new product additions or deletions, handle orders and customer support, monitor metrics for traffic. If informational, you add new content blogs, manage comments, and respond to contact inquiries. eBiz webmaster handles the rest and is always available for support.
Yes. eBiz specializes in customizing websites. Tell us what you want or need your website to do and we will make it happen. Even what competitors do not offer – we can make happen for your website. We can also make suggestions to help give you a competitive edge.
No. You handle your own business promotional efforts, but we can offer suggestions, as well as content optimizing services. Website promotion is the continuing process to improve content and increase exposure of a website to bring more visitors. Getting the word out about the website is no different than advertising your business in general – but with a high-quality website, your efforts should be more productive.
Tools will be installed and configured to assist those efforts. For example – if you want to promote on social media, tools can be configured for auto-posting to avoid double-entry and effort. If you want to develop a strategic marketing approach focused on creating high-quality, relevant, consistent content to a target audience – we can create content for you. Content marketing is a key component of SEO (for which we provide technical tools to optimize content) – but we are your webmaster, not your SEO specialist. Your monthly support fee does not begin to cover the cost involved for effective SEO.
To be clear, there is a lot more to ranking well on search engines than optimizing your content. Google also looks at how much your content is shared, how many inbound links it has, and much more with its algorithm. As your webmaster, we can assist an SEO specialist’s efforts.
No. You should purchase your own domain name and point the DNS to our servers. We can guide you through the process, or you can give us temp login to your domain registrar and we will handle the configurations. If you haven’t bought a domain name yet, we highly recommend NameCheap.
Yes. Every website in the network has unlimited email accounts using the domain name associated with their website. There is no additional charge for email unless your business requires HIPAA-compliant secure email. We have plans specific to healthcare business needs.
Yes. Responsive means your website will respond to the user’s behavior and environment based on screen size, platform and orientation. All sites in the eBiz Network are designed to be responsive on smartphone, tablet, laptop, and desktop devices.
It depends. The cost of building your website is impossible to quote without analyzing business needs. Some businesses require simple, one-page informational sites and others require custom platforms that offer a variety of online service applications. A “cost estimate calculator” is provided to give you an idea of the cost, but even this calculator is simply a guideline for budgeting purposes. You will be presented with a custom quote for your specific needs.
eBiz Network sites are built for the modern internet and search engines give you extra points for mobile friendly design and performance. SEO software tools are installed for the purpose of customizing your pages’ meta titles and descriptions (the key ingredients in optimizing your site for search—aka, how one gets from Google to your website). Alt tags configured on images improve your site’s SEO, UX, and accessibility. Google Analytics code is installed and configured.
That said, full SEO management and services is a time-consuming, ongoing specialized service that is not included. Technical SEO configurations and tools are included. It is the responsibility of every business owner to manage SEO based on their objectives. Outside SEO service providers can manage your needs if engaged.
Yes. SSL (secure socket layers) encrypts information as it is transferred across the Internet and Google considers HTTPS as a ranking signal. Our hosting includes a shared SSL certificate to secure data as it is being accessed on your site. A shared certificate is as secure as a private SSL certificate, but you may also purchase a dedicated certificate if desired, which will be installed on your behalf at no additional charge.
Yes. We offer HIPAA compliant options for healthcare providers and businesses with appropriate BAAs.
HIPAA compliant websites must conform to the Security Rule, which is made up of 3 parts: Technical, Physical and Administrative Safeguards. While actual website pages do not require compliance, the email, user access, file transmission, authentication, audit controls, security, and integity mechanisms must. To achieve full compliance, we partner with trusted services to integrate online patient registration and secure email for your website. eBiz webmaster handles all integration aspects, including those that may require connection with practice software.
Any information included in a medical record that can identify an individual and was created and used while providing health care (such as diagnosis or treatment) falls under the category of protected health information.
If your medical or dental practice still relies on the use of paper records, don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re automatically exempt from regulation. (And why are you still using paper records anyway?) If and when you submit claims in hard copies to a billing company and that company in turn transmits those records electronically to payers, HIPAA rulings apply to you as well.
Yes. Clients with existing websites may require migration of certain content, and there are times when this can save on costs. During the analysis phase, existing sites will be assessed and content migration considered in the quote for services.
